The end of PHP 4 Exactly three years to the day since PHP 5 was released, its predecessor PHP 4 is being laid to rest. Its development team made the decision to discontinue it since the current version has now attained an acceptable level of maturity. What's more, with PHP 6 on the horizon, the team will understandably have their hands full. Version 4 will continue to be supported till the end of 2007, after which point it will only receive critical security fixes, and that only till August 8th 2008. The team has put together a migration guide for those who’ll need to make the move from PHP4 to PHP5. Flex for Java Coders 5-day Bootcamp Farata Systems announced today its five day Flex bootcamp for Java developers dubbed "Real-world Flex for Java programmers". For the unfamiliar, Flex is Adobe's framework that helps you build dynamic, rich internet applications that are delivered on the web via the Flash player or to the desktop via Adobe AIR. "Real-world Flex for Java programmers" is an intensive, five-day hands-on training program for Web developers who need to create and integrate rich Internet clients written in Adobe Flex with enterprise J2EE applications. During the course of the workshop, attendees will build two fully functional Flex/Java apps under the guidance of two experts and certified Adobe Flex instructors Yakov Fain and Dr. Victor Rasputnis, co-authors of the book RIA with Adobe Flex and Java. The event will take place from November 26th to the 30th in New York City at a cost of twenty-five hundred dollars. Ajax Insecurity CNET News dot com's Security Bites Podcast talks with Bryan Sullivan and Billy Hoffman of SPI Dynamics. Sullivan is the company's development manager while Hoffman is their Lead Security Researcher. The pair discuss their upcoming presentation on Ajax security issues at the Black Hat USA convention later this month. Along with their presentation they will also perform live demonstrations of exploits, including: Vastly more efficient Blind SQL and Blind XPath injection techniques; Detecting and exploiting race conditions; and Applying static analysis to deobfuscate client-side JavaScript.
